Building It In

I consistently work 12-14 hour days. On those particular days, the last thing in the free world I want to do is spend an hour straight at the gym.

But I need to move and get stronger. So, how does one do this with such an intense schedule?

You build it into your day.

I walk to work or dash between the subway cars. I do breathing drills while waiting in line.

Build it in. Grease the groove.

If a patient is five minutes late, I am doing hardstyle pushups, pistol progressions, and handstands. If I assign them drills, I’m doing them with the patient.

Build it in. Grease the groove.

If the patient visit ends 5 minutes early, I go into crow stands, balance drills, and Brettzels.

Build it in. Grease the groove.

When I pass scaffolding on my walk home, I do dead hangs and pull-ups.

Build it in. Make the time. Do this 5 min over 12 different times throughout the day, and there is your hour in the gym.

And you didn’t even have to get that sweaty or wear spandex. It was about you and the movement.

It’s about having the commitment to build it in. It all counts.
