Yesterday, I was getting ready for an acupuncture clinic shift. Knowing it’d be 90 degrees, I knew capri pants were a wise choice.
I reached into my closet and grabbed a somewhat faded pair of black capris.
These are not just any capris.
These are the capris I bought at age 20. They’re a bit worn after nearly 15 years, but I still wear them.
I’ve never let my weight fluctuate enough to not be able to fit into them.
My fitness has been a 15-year commitment in the true sense of the word. Commitment – THAT is the secret of long-term weight loss and health.
Maybe one day, a magic pill will arise that gets you the physique you want. It still won’t supersede commitment. I’m not just strong and fit in body, but my mind came along for the commitment ride.
Keep a goal going for 15 years, and you feel like you can do anything. That mindset helped me summons the intrinsic power to dominate the things I attempt.
Commitment is arduous. Commitment takes sacrifice.
Commitment provides a sense of power that no pill, no diet, no fad can provide.
One day, these capris will see their final day. But yesterday, I saw my commitment with every step, every movement, and every glimpse towards the black material.
Maybe the pants you’re wearing right now could be like my capris. All you have to do is state, “I’m ready.”
Then, follow-through without excuses.
