Catch Me, Then Nudge Me

You have a million things on your plate. You’re having trouble remembering to keep your posture in check.

But you know it matters. You have good intentions – you just forget between alarms, post-its, assessments, and coaching sessions.

What do you do?

Get the Posture Police to catch you, then nudge you.

Tell everyone that regularly interacts with you to pick you apart. Elect them to catch you in bad habits, then nudge you into good ones.

My friend and fellow movement geek David McGettigan caught me at our NKT II seminar.

McG: “Dooley, stop riding on your Y ligament.”

He was able to catch me, then nudge me.

I tell patients to tell their spouses, children, coworkers and friends to correct them, if they don’t have the head up, chin in, shoulders down and back.

They catch you, then nudge you.

Go 15 hours all day with faulty posture, and you can be sure the one hour spent in the gym will have postural demands more difficult to maintain.

Everyone you know – including you – can catch you, then nudge you.
