I am asked daily about supplementation. Having worked for GNC in my early 20s, I am well-versed on every supplement known to man
This much I know is true:
Very little supplementation – or medication- has solid evidentiary support for its efficacy.
More simply put – no one knows if it works. It might just be subjective – or relative.
I know this much: I used to eat 6 small meals day and take fists full of supplements every few hours. If I skipped a meal or supplement fix, I felt my day unravel.
That’s not health. That’s obsession and compulsion.
These days? I take a few things.
Creatine. Omega 3s. Coconut oil. A whey/casein protein mix. If I miss a day, it’s no big whoop – and I can’t tell a huge difference.
These supplements are backed up by solid evidentiary support. Most everything else is hearsay – or better yet, placebo.
That is one expensive placebo. I chose the epigenetics of my cells and started supplementing my mind. Ultimately, I know I’m the one in the driver’s seat.
I meditate. I breathe with focus.
I train for skill development and to move better.
I intermittently fast, and on regular days skip breakfast and eat no more than 3 times.
I am dedicated to my family.
I hydrate without overhydrating.
I skip additives in my morning coffee (except coconut oil).
I spend all the supplement money on coaching (i.e., acupuncture, strength, seminars, education). I supplement my mind so my body gets efficiently connected to it.
You might want to save your money and begin with the following: breathe better, eat better, move better, think better.
