The Lies about The Thirties

Dooley Noted: 12/12/2013

I’ve never been thin. It’s not in my nature. And for my genetics and disposition, being thin has never suited me.

So, I always took it with a grain of salt when people would offer these ridiculous nuggets:

“Just wait until you’re 30. Your body will change so much.”

“You won’t be able to eat like you used to do.”

“You’ll have to workout twice as hard.”

Bull. Bull. Bull.

Since childhood, I’ve been an endomorph who found difficulty in losing weight. I simply committed to lifestyle changes in my early twenties.

Once you commit, there is relative ease. Commitment means consistency. And consistency sets the environment for a particular genetic expression.

Consistently eat sugar and junk, and the body adapts.

Consistently eat clean, and the body adapts.

Live on the couch, and the body adapts.

Live in the gym, and the body adapts.

I’m halfway through my 30s. My body looks only slightly different than in my early 20s – and it’s different on the side of improvement.

I’m body-denser, stronger, and more focused in life than I’ve ever been.

Shut out the noise. Yes, we lose muscle and bone mass as we age. But if you had poor quality bones and limited mass to start, then new or renewed commitment can make you better than you’ve ever been.

As always – it’s your call.
