Dooley Noted: 12/13/13
The President of the Dooley B.O.T. didn’t like that I worked a 17-hour day on Monday.
He let me know about it.
President: Did you take a break today?
Dooley: One hour midday. Trained.
President: Nope. Not a break.
Dooley: But I LOVE my work.
President: You’re built to work. But it’s like a computer, Jo – it has a fan to cool down the processor.
Taking the break is not necessarily something I want to do. Discipline is doing something consistently that may not necessarily come naturally to you.
If it were natural, it would not be discipline.
So, I’m being ordered to take a 5- minute break every few hours. No work. No social media. No writing. No exercising. Breathing drills don’t count. (The President says it has to do with work.)
The President has never once been wrong in the 16 years I’ve known him. (Seriously – I’m not exaggerating.) Thus, I’ll become disciplined to take the break.
If you’re good at work, build in what you need with that same commitment you have to work. It’s for the body of work. Even the break can be a discipline.
