I see people stretch tight muscles. Maybe that’s helpful.
But what if it makes your tightness WORSE?
This happens quite often in the low back, hamstrings, and calves. We stretch them, because they are tight.
But what if they are tight because they are the ones WORKING?
People frequently lean into their pain, creating it. Watch them move, and you watch them create the pain in front of your eyes. Unless the pain is severe, they press right into pain.
Then, they get tight and painful.
So, you stretch, right? That’s the answer?
I’m not convinced.
Put the leader of the group project on vacation, and you can’t expect the lazy group members to immediately snap into action.
When the low back moves too much, muscles tighten in an attempt to prevent it. So, stretching can make a situation worse.
Think before you stretch. Get assessed. Learn to lock down what is moving too much and get the lazy components moving again.
