I have been told I couldn’t do many things.
I had a colleague tell me I’d never teach for a medical school – since I was “only a chiropractor.”
I had another colleague and supposed mentor once tell me that I’d “be eaten alive” trying to teach the MD/PhD students.
I looked at them and nodded. That’s a really perfect attitude for never making a single thing in the world change.
It’s also a really effective attitude to keep motivated people down.
Some dark people thrive trying to steal the light in others.
Naysayers, do us all a favor. Get out of our way.
Take your naysaying to a corner somewhere and stop proudly spreading around your bull to the masses.
You see, some people listening to you might actually believe you’re correct.
To anyone motivated in achieving a goal, you don’t have to listen to these people.
I’m certainly glad I didn’t.
One of my amazing Einstein Med colleagues said this to me last week:
“Kathy, you really have paved your own way into a very unique career.”
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
You can absolutely break the mold and leave the naysayers scratching their heads. Or you can do what’s always been done.
As always, it’s your call.
