Yesterday, I saw something typical in a brand new way.
The subway made its stop, and the doors were closing. A female that I’m guessing was in her 40s stood between the closing doors, prying them apart like a superhero.
This is not an easy feat.
She walked onto the train, carrying a hefty handbag and two other large sacks.
I’m not exactly sure where it started, but many females I counsel are under the impression that lifting weights makes them look bulky or masculine.
I promptly walk over to their handbags, and they tend to weigh somewhere between 6 and 12 kilos.
If they have children, they are picking them off the floor and lugging these wiggly weights around the house, the store, the world.
If they do laundry, they have to lift the heavy baskets.
They are already lifting weights, all day, every day! Has this lifting made them masculine or bulky? Of course not.
While your steady-state cardio may feel great, it doesn’t make it the fat burner you hallucinate it to be.
Muscle burns fuel 24-7-365. Cardio burns fuel only while you are doing it.
If you REALLY want to decrease body fat, get on the weight floor.
People may be watching you from the treadmill. It’s ok, because you know two truths:
1. You already lift weights in life.
2. The results from their cardio would be greater should they choose to join you at the weights.
As always, it’s your call.
