The Babe in Total Control of Herself

Dooley Noted: 6/5/2014

I am assertive.

I challenge ideas.

I derive some of my own.

I test what is in front of me to see how it works.

I am kind, but I have an edge.

I will call out injustice.

I will stand up for myself and those who need it.

Therefore, I am called the “B” word.

A phenomenal professor at Logan University, Dr. Manello, said she is often called the “B” word, too.

She took it as an acronym. She stated, “It stands for ‘Babe in Total Control of Herself.'”

I will not be a doormat. One can be kind and assertive. Oftentimes, to be assertive is to ultimately BE kind.

I am not nice. But I am kind.

Massaging the same muscles and adjusting the same joints while telling you to come see me three times a week might feel nice. But it isn’t kind.

I am a Babe because I hold you as accountable as you hold me.

Spoonfeeding students all the answers is nice. But is is not kind.

I am a Babe because I will challenge you to learn to think for yourself.

Letting you continue with the same patterns and not challenging you to change might be nice. But it isn’t kind.

I am a Babe because I encourage the change of a habit that might be undoing you.

When push comes to shove, I would rather be a Babe than just be a nice person.

As always, it’s your call.
