Happier in Comparison

Dooley Noted: 6/7/14

My friend’s ex-girlfriend likes to bug him incessantly via text message.

She pesters him about where he is, who he’s with, and what he’s doing.

He stopped responding, which just made her reach out more.

She listed the reasons she is much happier without him. She noted she was in a new relationship, and she was the happiest of her life.

She shoved this in his face. He refused to respond.

When I asked him the speculated reason for her behavior, he had a very insightful answer.

“She tries to make me miserable so that she is happier by comparison.”

This is the nature of those that bring others down. As long as they can shove you lower, they are higher.

We all can see the truth from a mile away.

You’re not happy if you’re dragging down others.

Happy people build others up.

You’re not fooling anyone with cheap talk and foul action.

A truly happy ex-girlfriend would leave her ex-boyfriend alone. If she is truly happy, she wouldn’t need a comparison.

As always, it’s your call.
