After teaching NKT this weekend in Boston, I raced to the airport to return my rental car.
As I waited for the shuttle, the Shuttle Bus Assistant was gathering people to prep for the ride. Having not known his job existed, I watched him with fascination.
This man was the most upbeat and efficient human I’ve ever witnessed.
He gathered the worried, scattered travelers and helped them find the right shuttle. He then gathered and stacked the luggage, according to the right bus.
With an encouraging, warm tone, he noted the following:
“I’m going to make this an awesome experience.”
“Don’t worry about the bags. I’ve got you covered.”
“I’m very fast. You’ll get there on time. I’ll make sure of it!”
He was so genuine and wonderful that I wanted to hug him. He was helping the passengers relax and laugh, during stressful times.
He made me want to be a better human.
I can’t imagine a better experience than that, especially at the airport!
He reminded me I can be better at my job. I can be a more patient and enthusiastic teacher, doctor, and student.
Your attitude is up to you. And it just might change everyone around you. I certainly witnessed this at the shuttle.
As always, it’s your call.
