How Joan Rivers Inspired My Fitness

Dooley Noted: 9/14/2014

Joan Rivers may not be the picture that came to mind when one thought of fitness.

Just days before her death at 81, she was noting to reporters how thankful she was for her good health.

She was a great role model to me for fitness and perseverance for many years.

Her mind was sharp as a tack, and she had no known ailments.

She walked a minimum of three miles per day as a commitment since her youth.

Even after Johnny Carson ostracized her, she knew she had to go out on her own and do things her way.

When her husband committed suicide, she simultaneously battled depression while building a new career for herself.

At 81, she worked non-stop at jobs she loved. She kept booking more and more appearances while still acting as a mentor to young professionals.

I could care less how much plastic surgery she utilized. There’s so much to be inspired by her tenacity, diligence, and humor.

While she may have gone too soon and in a mysterious way, she reminded me to keep walking and keep working for my goals, never using age as an excuse.

As always, it’s your call.
