Proceeding with Caution

Dooley Noted: 9/16/14

Yesterday, I was almost hit by a car.

The sun was blazing in my eyes, and I simply didn’t see the car.

As the car screeched to a halt, I felt the bumper brush my fibula.

It was THAT close.

I apologized profusely, then I walked in a haze to the lab.

My life did not flash in front of me.

I wasn’t overwhelmed with gratitude, either.

I thought about how careless missteps can result in absolute catastrophe.

But we can’t be stifled by the fear of what may happen. We must proceed with caution yet stay alert.

We must observe our surroundings and not be afraid to exist within them.

Giving yourself better focus and awareness can also prevent major injury. Better balance and proprioception can help prevent slips and falls.

Sizing up your surroundings and getting better focus can help you with stability, strength, and injury prevention in life – not just in traffic.

As always, it’s your call.
