The Lady in a Bind

Dooley Noted: 9/18/2014

Yesterday, I stopped by a local deli to grab some water.

In a rush as usual, I bolted to the shortest line. A lady was paying for drink.

The cashier noted that her purchase didn’t meet the minimum for a credit purchase. She was distressed, as she had no cash on her.

I didn’t even think as I noted, “Put hers on mine.”

This must not happen much in New York, because both the cashier and the customer treated me as if I’d cured heart disease.

I noted, “It’s $3. It won’t break me.”

But it probably made the customer’s day. (At least that’s what she said.)

Now, I see people run into issues all the time. Most of the time I’m quick to help. Lately, it’s been more often.

You see, I was wearing a shirt that read “Catalyst SPORT” across the front. I represent not just a gym, but my business partners, my patients, and their clients.

I’m part of something I believe in. It’s bigger than me, and I feel myself more prone to represent our mission properly.

I want to be a catalyst for change. I want to build mobility, stability and strength with a compassionate yet diligent attitude, not just in the gym but in life.

Being a part of Catalyst is making me a better person.

If that’s not a reason to go to work, I don’t know what is.

As always, it’s your call.
