Why You Should Jump

Yesterday, I had the privilege of hosting – and lead instructing – my first NeuroKinetic Therapy (NKT) Level I seminar in a gym I co-own, which is also the place in which I practice rehabilitative chiropractic.

As I saw the 43 participants and teaching team, I had a moment wash over me of being completely overwhelmed.

It was the culmination of many, many years of hard work, dedication, passion, and love. It was surreal, like a joy you never knew was possible.

And it could have never happened.

I’m not one to stay in a job that is largely dissatisfying. I was in that associate chiropractic job in 2012, when I met David Weinstock of NKT.

That led to a movement practice, which lead to kettlebells, which led to meeting my business partners.

When you start to see the morphing quality of professionals around you, you have to buck up and pay attention.

You are at a crossroads, deciding what you want this career – and life – to be like.

I was scared to jump. I thought I was alone. I could have failed. It was hard. But I landed on ground that I never could imagine would make me so happy.

You might be alone when you jump. But those people encouraging you are like this enormous parachute, helping to make your land as soft as possible.

They want to help. Let them.

At yesterday’s seminar lunch break, I had the honor of assessing a colleague. As he described his needed career jump, I saw myself in his patient presentation – in his eyes – in his gut. I recognized his fear. I was in his shoes two years ago.

He’s about to jump. And I’ll be here for him when he does.

If you’ve made a jump, share your story. Soften someone’s land.

The view down here is incredible.

As always, it’s your call.
