35 Things I Confirmed in My 35th Year

1. Anatomy matters, and one can never know enough of it.

2. Bai 5 Water can make a day even better.

3. Few things are more attractive than someone cooking for me.

4. Nothing trumps the airway. Not food. Not water. Not a PR. Not a WOD. Mess with the airway, and it messes right back.

5. One really can fill a passport doing what she loves.

6. Eat greens, but steam or cook them. We don’t have fermentation chambers. Greens are tough to digest.

7. The goal may not be achieved on time. It doesn’t mean it isn’t achievable.

8. Breathe more. Eat less.

9. No matter how tired one may be, breathe and take the stairs.

10. Call Mom and Dad. They don’t mean to forget.

11. Holding grudges hurts the holder most.

12. Friends come and go. Let them.

13. The people stating, “You can have it all – just not at once” will NEVER have it all.

14. Building up others doesn’t break down the builder.

15. Love will find you. It may not look how you expected. But recognize it when it finds you.

16. Hire help.

17. Sleep hard, and not too long.

18. Go into business with the people who inspire you.

19. Chinese medicine will always be the medicine of choice, because it gives without taking and recognizes only patterns.

20. Radiographic imaging is not a storyteller. The patient is the storyteller. Listen to the patient.

21. The depth of love for a parent can’t be felt until death threatens the bond.

22. Cancer sucks, but sometimes it gives back.

23. Never stay in Vegas more than 2 days.

24. Give to oneself first. Build up, then give to others.

25. Drink wine when offered.

26. Never order dessert unless sharing it.

27. Traveling with a kettlebell is worth any associated hassle.

28. Quit the gym if you can’t go barefoot. Find one where they allow bare feet.

29. Even if you co-own a gym, you’d better schedule in your training. No excuses.

30. Invest in a comfy apartment. It’s imperative for health to come home to a space created for oneself.

31. Singing is exhaling. You deliver oxygen to cells when you exhale, not inhale. Sing more. Exhale more.

32. If music, movement, or movies don’t create a bond, find something that does. But bond with everyone you get the honor of meeting.

33. Never help people up, unless you plan on helping them up 24-7-365. Be near, as a guide. Let them help themselves.

34. When it comes to pain, strongly encourage all things insourcing. Discourage outsourcing.

35. The teacher learns more from the students than she can ever give back.

What a year. Let’s see what year 36 teaches me!
