On most days, I hear patients state the following:
“I have bursitis.”
“I have a torn rotator cuff.”
“I have a disc herniation.”
Your brain learns from hearing you state this.
You don’t “have” these diagnoses.
They have you.
A mindset change is needed to not let labels overwhelm you.
You don’t “have” bursitis. You lost proper muscle sequencing to protect your joint.
You don’t “have” a torn rotator cuff. You overworked a muscle and then lost its integrity.
You don’t “have” a disc herniation. You lost spinal protection and moved the spine too much at one focal point.
You don’t “have” your diagnoses.
Take back what you lost.
Improve your muscle sequencing.
Gain mobility and stability where they’ve been lost.
Learn what you can currently tolerate, and watch that gauge change.
It will take more work to get back what was lost.
Don’t give in to let diagnoses “have” you.
As always, it’s your call.
