Dooley Noted: 10/23/14
Last night, I had the honor of assessing a female with a near perfect movement assessment.
She’s 60.
I had spent many, many hours earlier that day assessing people – many that were younger than her.
I heard many excuses for faulty movement and pain. One of the top excuses was age.
As I marveled at this woman’s movement, I pointed out some ways I could get her out of pain.
I didn’t forget to tell her all the things she was doing right!
She hugged me, very hopeful and excited to do her homework.
She noted something crucial.
“I turned 60 this year, and I did notice that things got stiffer with that number. I wonder if age is a role people take upon themselves!”
People actually talk themselves into it, becoming a character actor for the “old person with a messed-up body.”
Don’t play that role if you don’t have to play it.
Move better. Strive to move as well as you can.
You don’t. You can do better. Evolve.
Consider taking on a new role – one where you see yourself out of discomfort.
As always, it’s your call.
