The Fit

In order to be fit, sometimes you have to throw a fit.

Dr. Anne Jeffres, a world renowned acupuncturist and herbalist, said something in my first herbs class that I won’t soon forget.

“Stressed out people are like pressure cookers. If they would just throw a fit, they’d feel a lot better.”

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, stress starts to stagnate circulation inside of you. You feel it in ways like the following:

– Chest pain
– Muscle aches
– Body stiffness
– Migraines
– Tension headaches
– Insomnia
– Constipation
– Urinary tract infections
– Indigestion

But these are just warning signs.

In TCM theory, the disruption of circulation leads to major health issues. The internalized stress becomes a mechanism for producing disease.

I also speak from last night’s experience, feeling one week’s worth of chest tightness dissipate in one intense venting session.

If you’re stressed and perceiving it as harmful, get that circulation moving.

Breathe.

Exercise.

Throw a fit in the comfort of your own home.

Whatever outlet you choose, please don’t hold it in.

As always, it’s your call.
