People That Changed Me: Part 7

Dooley Noted: 1/3/2015

The Person: Artemis Scantalides

Profession: strength coach, co-owner of Iron Body Studios

How I know her:
Artemis was my assistant instructor at a kettlebell certification over two years ago. Currently, she is my personal strength distance coach and programmer

How she’s changed me:
Artemis has shown me that excuses have no room with goal setting. When I saw her tiny hand barely surround the handle of a 24 kilo kettlebell, I knew she made no excuses at all.

She has taught me the power of women in fitness. Most importantly, she has shown me that failure with integrity leads to success with integrity. She proved this as she failed then conquered the Iron Maiden challenge, where she strict-pressed and performed a pistol squat and pullup with a 24 kilo (53 lb) kettlebell attached to her 119 lb frame.

Regarding pull-ups, she is my hero. When I watched a video of her performing 14 bodyweight pull-ups (note the lack of kipping), I knew she’d help me get to my goals.

Her responses to a list of questions, each with a three-word answer max (except book title):
