My big sister and I are different.
We don’t always agree.
I’ll admit that I get caught up in our differences.
There have been times I’ve given up.
But she never gave up on me.
What I have learned is that giving up is easy on you – and hard on everyone else.
So, I stopped being a brat and started remembering all the times she has been there for me.
During times I was on the edge, surprising people were there – like my big sister with all the differences.
Through each one of the toughest moments of my life, she made helping me a priority.
That’s family.
Whether it’s your blood family or the family you make, I hope you focus less on the differences.
I hope you can illuminate the way people fortify you.
Sometimes it takes work to remember the good.
I hope you do good work.
As always, it’s your call.
