Time Juggling

Dooley Noted: 1/21/15

I have an intense schedule.

But I designed it.

So, it’s my responsibility to assign priority.

This week, I fell short for a few people that depend on me.

Knowing that “busy” is an illusion and an unacceptable excuse, I admitted my shortcomings.

One must plan carefully and design a set of time management skills that helps you prioritize.

I’ve designed some ways I help myself re-prioritize. Perhaps it can help you, too.

1. Set alarms in your phone to remind you to do certain things until they become habitual.

For example: I have alarms set every week at the same time to do little things that are easy for me to forget (i.e., computer backups, accounting, laundry, etc).

2. Everyone is busy all of the time because time is of great value. Completely avoid the word “busy.” Prioritize or don’t.

3. Apologize when you fall short. You are human. Describe the efforts you will make to change, and follow through with those efforts.

4. Outsource. Ask for help. And if people offer help, let them.

5. If things suck your time and don’t contribute to your goals, reconsider your time devotion to these things.

I hope these steps help you juggle time so you can do everything you prioritize.

As always, it’s your call.
