I’m passionate about providing an education with my treatments.
After all, doctor means teacher.
But the problem is this.
Most of my patients have several doctors.
Their orthopedists say one thing.
Their podiatrist says another.
Their general practitioner day something entirely different.
Then, add me.
We get four experts with four different opinions.
My patients express their frustration with the lack of congruency.
Who do they believe? Who’s right?
My job is not to sway a decision.
My job is to provide information.
And unlike some of their doctors, I encourage the patients to open their minds up.
A doctor’s opinion can help the patient decide for himself.
But I’ve had many doctors attempt to override my educated opinion with their opinions.
So, the best one can do is help the patient become empowered with knowledge.

If the goal as a doctor is to educate, that’s the only job.
The decisions must be left up to the patient.
As always, it’s your call.
