The Perfect Anatomy

Dooley Noted: 2/23/2015

Through the avenue of seminar instruction, I am exposed to many movement specialists per year.

More times than not, I hear phrases like the following:

“I’m a mess.”

“I’m broken.”

“Fix me.”

And these are therapists talking!

Once someone sees an MRI or radiographic finding, it’s tough to unsee it.

Once the structure has experienced dysfunction, many feel as if they are broken masses.

So I thought back on the 900+ cadavers I’ve studied in the past 10 years.

It’s not a large sample, but it’s not a small one.

Out of the 900, do you know how many perfect humans I witnessed?

Zero.

And even if you had perfect structure, it doesn’t mean you are without movement dysfunction.

Your anatomy doesn’t have to be perfect.

It never was in the first place.

All you need is to work with what you have.

You have not met your anatomy’s potential to move at its finest.

You can feel better than you do.

You can move better than you move.

You can change your own anatomy. You have malleable parts.

You have beautiful anomalies that lay hidden to your eyes.

You may possess extra muscles or strange nerve divisions.

Your arteries may have created new pathways.

You may have altered pieces – but you are still moving, working, and getting it done.

You can hide behind your imperfect, broken anatomy.

Or, you can still revel in the anatomy you have yet to discover about yourself.

As always, it’s your call.
