I see a small share of the world’s patients.
While I still have enormous work to do, I’ve noticed that my patients have a commonality.
Every single one of them expressed that they deserved their injury.
They state things like the following:
“I overdid it.”
“I did something stupid.”
“I wasn’t paying attention.”
“I went too far.”
People do incredible jobs of punishing themselves, well after the injury occurred.
But I don’t think injuries have to be perceived this way.
Patients aren’t broken people.
Many practitioners have led them to believe they need to be fixed.
They are left to feel that they are damaged goods, and they had the injuries coming.
But it’s not true.
Many people get by every day with faulty movement patterns. And they don’t necessarily get hurt.
Injuries happen to all of us. And we can work with them to become more than we were prior to the injury.
You don’t need to feel like your injuries are punishment.
While injuries are a sign of structures gone awry, you can use them as an opportunity to become more then you ever were.
You can beat yourself down with punishment. Or, you can build up your foundation.
As always, it’s your call.
