My friend and colleague, Tobias Kehlenbach, did everything in his power to promote our first NeuroKinetic (NKT) seminar in Bonn, Germany.
He organized the event and drew a group of focused, brilliant movement professionals. He even took the time to translate the seminar PowerPoint into German.
He made dinner reservations and drove us around all weekend, showing the city. He even hosted we teachers at his home as we studied together.
The entire weekend, he showed no stress. He commented on how positive everything was going.
Tobias convinced me that some people work hard to activate their Positivity Route.
He proved it again in a rough circumstance this morning.
He refused to let me take a cab to the airport.
So, he drove me 1.5 hours to the Frankfurt airport – at 4:30 am.
We had a fantastic road trip, driving 140 on the autobahn as we jammed to Queen and Guns & Roses.
And then fate would intervene.
Tobi and I slowly pulled into the airport – where a bus came inches from hitting us.
Since Tobi drives like a pro, he dodged the bus. We were left without a scratch – but Tobi was left with a flat tire as we pulled up to my terminal.
He never cursed. He turned to me to check on me.
He didn’t even call for auto help straight off. He made sure I found the terminal first.
His morning of business was altered as he dealt with the nuisance of getting his tire fixed.
I kept apologizing over and over, but Tobi would not hear of it.
He hugged me and said, “It could have been so much worse. It’s just a tire.”
After crossing through security, I already had a message from Tobi, asking if I had made it to my gate.
Even in his own personal turmoil, he made sure his friend was okay.
I didn’t just help teach a seminar in Germany last weekend.
I made a friend that inspired me to change my outlook, especially in times of struggle.
You can curse your fate when trouble arises and take a negative path of thought.
Or, we can all be more like Tobi, hard at work to choose our Positivity Route.
As always, it’s your call.
