I fly frequently these days.
Almost every weekend, I get to watch people avoid checking luggage by overstuffing their carry-ons.
I see countless women struggling to get their heavy bags in the overhead compartment.
Many women won’t even make an attempt. They will ask a nearby person to help them place it in the overhead bin.
And it’s always a male that they ask.
Yesterday, I had a woman look right through me to ask the man behind me to help.
As a female, I’m offended.
I’m offended that a female can’t look to another female for help or strength.
I’m more offended that she wouldn’t even try to lift it herself.
Now, I know the truth.
We females are designed for amazing feats of strength.
These strengths include passing a child the size of a watermelon out of a lemon-sized opening.
Then, females are designed to cart that child around. He continues to grow in size as she grows in weariness, with sleepless nights and endless work to do.
She is designed for strength.
So, why do females not work harder to own this strength?
We are not the weaker sex.
We have a right to our strength – especially in our overhead position.
If you have mobile shoulders that aren’t painful, you need to be getting strong in that overhead position.
At least be strong enough to put that luggage in the overhead compartment – all by yourself.
One day, you may need it.
As always, it’s your call.
