Outliving Your Doctor

Dooley Noted: 6/27/2015
This week, I was honored to assist an acupuncture intern that was treating an 82 year-old patient.
The patient complained about very little. She had utilized acupuncture and other holistic care for decades.
She noted her doctors said that it wouldn’t really help, but they gave her permission to do it.
She also noted that she was on one medication, while many of her friends were on several medications.
She said she outlived most of her family and friends – and even a few of her doctors.
It’s well established that doctors don’t have longer life spans than most other professions.
As I listened to the lady’s intake, she seemed to have health figured out.
She eats whole, nutritious foods.
She keeps her mind sharp with intellectual endeavors.
She keeps her body fit with plenty of exercise.
She was in a delightful mood.
She loves her life.
She was the epitome of health to be exhibited at any age.
By all means, listen to the advice of health professionals.
But take the advice at your own volition.
You just may have a few things figured out for yourself.
As always, it’s your call.
