Yesterday was a strong day.
After an amazing weekend of teaching the Immaculate Dissection seminar series, Monday was full of amazing patients and a strong workout.
But at 2 AM this morning, I woke with what I believe was food poisoning.
I felt like all the strength was zapped from me by a little bug.
So, I took the morning off to recover.
I checked my mail and found this book written by my friend, Eric Moss.
I met Eric at a seminar I hosted. He has been quite influential in my pursuit of strongman feats, like tearing phone books and decks of cards.
I turned the pages to find myself bending a large piece of steel across the thunder-thighs I’ve been gifted.
I also saw me ripping phonebooks with my strong girlfriends, showing that women absolutely have the power to complete strongman feats.
As I’m reading through this book this morning, I’m quickly reminded that strength is something you earn on a daily basis. While some of us are given strength with a certain baseline, we all have the opportunity to build more.
In fact, that opportunity is limitless. This strength makes us more resilient when the unforeseen occurs,
The bug may have stolen my sleep, as well as my morning commitments.
But reading through Eric’s book and seeing these pictures reminds me of who I am and for what I stand. That strength is earned every day, little by little.
What I have stored in my strength bank will help me bounce back, for strength is not just physical.
Strength is absolutely more mental than anything else.
You can let things happen to you, and use them as excuses.
Or, you can acknowledge the things as an opportunity to catapult you towards strength.
As always, it’s your call.
