People Who’ve Changed Me: Part 31

Dooley Noted: 7/15/2015

The Person: Elana Behar

Profession: massage therapist, movement specialist

How I know her:

When I was working at Manhattan Spine and Sports Medicine in 2013, I met the great Elana. She recounts that she needed a NYC-based chiropractor to whom she could refer a client. She asked David Weinstock, who said to her, “hands down: Kathy Dooley.”

How she’s changed me:

Elana helped me make the transition from being an associate to an independent chiropractor. Her business sense is one that promotes self-development and full accountability.
Elana is no cookie-cutter massage therapist. I have never met a massage therapist with more fascination for human movement and the understandings of its biomechanisms.

Elana has trusted me to co-care many of her clients, and I’ve had the honor of co-treating with her in the room.

She is not only a brilliant analyst and skilled therapist. She taught me how to listen.

She has such a trusting openness that you want to tell her your life story, just so she can give you her feedback on it. She showed me that the clients who seek our help are also seeking us as people – as guides.

She was front-row-center at the premier of each Immaculate Dissection NYC seminar. She made my year when she stated she travels around with the manual! She’s been completely supportive in our creative endeavors with anatomy education.

And she very rarely has missed an NKT weekly study group for the last THREE years!

I’m so thankful to call her my colleague, and I’m honored that we co-treat clients.

Elana, you inspire me every day to be a better teacher, communicator, and movement therapist. Thank you!
