I have the honor of lead instructing for two seminar series and instructing anatomy for five schools.
I also take a highly educational approach to my patient care.
I receive overwhelmingly positive feedback on my teaching abilities.
But on occasion, I’ll get a few outliers that don’t prefer my methods.
They’re almost always anonymous, which I suppose empowers some people to state what they feel.
After all, I can’t give a rebuttal – unless I do it via blog.
After a successful week and weekend of teaching, it got back to me that someone stated I wasn’t a very good teacher.
Now, this soul had not taken my course. And he-said she-said business turns me off like a light switch.
I’m the first to admit no teacher resonates with all students.
And I will not build my self-worth or career worth on negative reinforcement.
I will take constructive criticism and build more efficient, helpful courses.
I will work to educate with simplicity for difficult concepts.
When we show darkness, we tend to attract the darkness.
When we shine our light, we attract that instead.
I can only help those attracted to my light.
If you find yourself focusing on negative reinforcement, don’t do it.
You are worthy of criticism that is constructive only.
You CAN believe the positive statements made about you.
And you can learn how to become even better at achieving your goals – without self-deprecation.
As always, it’s your call.
