The Person: Ari Harris
Profession: strength coach, RKC II kettlebell girya, owner of Pharaoh’s Army Fitness
How I know him:
I had the honor of meeting Ari at a workshop I held in January 2013 with David Whitley. Ari brought his impeccable kettlebell skills – as well as the man that would be my future business partner, Joe Boffi.
How he’s changed me:
Ari is the true Catalyst to Catalyst SPORT. He is the reason we exist.
Ari has that effect on people. He is the great envoy, helping the right people meet at the right time.
Ari is more than a technique coach. He seems to know how to psychologically key in to his clients needs. I experienced this for myself, for he helped me break the 20 kilo barrier on my overhead kettlebell press.
He watched me approach the bell as if it were work.
He calmly said, “You’re so calm and focused when you’re working. You don’t even approach work like it’s work! But when you walk up to the bell, you sigh first, like its hard work. Just approach it like you do work.”
Even though I was mentally and physically exhausted, I pressed the 20 kilo for the first time – in front of Ari.
I started taking his early morning kettlebell classes in Queens, and he helped me break a huge barrier with kettlebell snatch testing. He reminded me that I chose the kettlebell because it was fun!
Now, I smile throughout the entire five minutes of the snatch test – because of Ari. And people always comment how happy I look during it!
Not one to talk about himself much, I couldn’t get him to answer my questions.
But you want to trust me on this.
Don’t walk – SPRINT to get to know this man and how he can help you.
If you don’t hire him as a coach, do whatever you can to be in his atmosphere. He’s the real deal.
He’s one of the most influential people I’ve met in my last three years spent in this movement/fitness industry.
