This summer, I made an amazing new friend.
Some would say I didn’t meet him in the Real World.
He read my blog and told me how much it moved him.
He asked if he could ever do anything for me.
I took him up on his offer, and we shared a workout.
He adopted my healthy obsession with the kettlebell, and we quickly shared the way we see the world.
I met him on Facebook, but he became my real life friend.
We have communicated every day since our meeting.
As I look around this subway train, I wonder if my next friend could be sitting right beside me.
We are together in the Real World after all, right?
But maybe our Real World is the one we create.
Yes, I am the woman you see in the videos.
My blogs are raw and real. To say you don’t know me would be a lie. Of course you do.
I’m surrounded in this real life, NYC world by literally millions of people that I’ll never get to know.
But I will not let that overwhelm me.
I will reach out to as many people as I can, from the barista to the deli cashier to my patients.
I will share my experiences every day with a blog I hope moves some people.
After all, this blog is part of my Real World.
And if it scored me a new friend, then that’s real enough for me.
I hope you bring the real into everything you do, from buying your coffee to opening your heart to a reader.
As always, it’s your call.
