People Who’ve Changed Me: Part 44

Dooley Noted: 10/16/15

The Person: Steve Holiner, aka Coach Fury

Profession: Senior instructor, Russian Kettlebell Challenge (RKC), instructor for DVRT, strength coach

How I know him:

I met Coach Fury through our mutual friend and RKC colleague, Ari Harris.

I was seeking a Manhattan-based juggernaut strength coach to help me break my 20-kilo kettlebell press barrier back in 2013. So, I went to one of the kings of the press.

How he’s changed me:
Coach Fury and I have since built a network between us of rehabbing hurt people back to healthy fitness goals.

Coach Fury trusted me with his rehab, just as I trusted his enormous skills to help me break my press barriers.

In the meantime, I made an amazing friend, who helped me prepare for the StrongFirst Level II kettlebell certification. He also supplied his kettlebells as Catalyst SPORT opened its doors.

A few weeks ago, I shared with him one of the best moments of my life. We co-taught the kettlebell press at RKC, inside the gym our Catalyst team built.

The man who taught me the press helped me teach the press to others, proving once again all weaknesses can be turned into strengths.

Coach Fury has been nothing short of a catalyst in my life. I could call him in a drop of a hat, and he would be there for me. He’s all heart, with the fury saved for his battles with the bell.
He’s one of the strongest people I’ve ever met, in body, in heart and in mind.

I have nothing but love for this incredible strength coach. If you have an opportunity to learn from him with DVRT or RKC, don’t walk: sprint to him.
