People Who’ve Changed Me: Part 48

Dooley Noted: 11/12/2015

The Person: Lindsay Hill

Profession: Service Part Specialist

How I know her:
I met Lindsay Hill (formerly Trapp) at our alma mater, Gibson Southern High School, when I was 15. We had a rough start, when she reprimanded me for contributing to a wall of graffiti in our theater’s lighting area.

We had a mutual friend and became close by proximity. As other friends fell away, we stuck like glue and have remained dear friends for the past 22 years.

How she’s changed me:
Lindsay and I have almost nothing in common but our friendship. We openly admit we don’t like most of the same movies nor music. We find different things funny and interesting, and we have some different principle sets.

But we are always there for each other, and she’s been one of my most lasting friendships. She has shown me that you don’t have to have everything in common to be loyal to a friendship.

She also introduced me to a man that would be the longest, most formative relationship of my life so far.

And her relationship with her near-perfect son proves to me that you can write the parenting script however you like. She broke many traditional rules to raise one of the most loving, brilliant, and well-behaved children I’ve ever met.

Lindsay is a non-conformist, and she knows how to think for herself. She has taught me confidence and freedom from what other people think.

She’s one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever known, and I’m honored to call her my friend.

Her responses to a list of my questions:

As always, it’s your call.
