I’m working a seven day stretch this week.
I will make significant income at the week’s end.
It’s always nice to help people and pay bills.
But I worked seven-day stretches for far too many weeks this year.
Sunday ends my last seven-day stretch of the year.
I created it that way, because people in my life have intervened. They let me know they’d like me around for quality time.
At first, I panicked a bit. I started calculating what I would lose.
Patients couldn’t be seen as much.
I couldn’t teach as many students.
But then I had a thought.
You can calculate how much money you can make in a weekend.
You can consider that amount the loss you take when you create quality time with family.
But those two numbers do not have equivalence.
Think about this.
Consider what you would pay for one more weekend with someone you love that has passed away.
Would you pay the above number?
Or would you pay more?
I would give my entire bank account for more time with people I’ve lost.
So when I am calculating the weekend of potential profit loss, I consider what I would pay for one more weekend with my grandmother.
As long as the bills are paid, consider the quality time you can afford to give.
One day, that quality time with those people will appreciate into something much larger than what you currently lost.
As always, it’s your call.
