On Thankfulness: 2015

Dooley Noted: 11/26/2015

This year has been a storm of difficulty and wonder, despair and happiness.
No matter which way the pendulum swings, I am always grateful for the lessons I learn.

This is not a comprehensive list. I’ve imbibed a bit, so forgive me if I forgot something crucial.

I am thankful…

1. …for the full recovery from two injuries that threatened to sideline my strength.

2. …for the education that injuries actually unlock strength one never could obtain without them.

3. …for my parents, who’ve shown me the power of unconditional love – so I can offer it to other people, too.

4. …for the team at Catalyst SPORT, who show me every day that if we build it, they will come.

5. …for my best friends, who’ve never once in my life guilted me for following my dreams (even if it meant the sacrifice of my time from them).

6. …for David Weinstock and the NKT family, for trusting me to help educate the world.

7. …for Anna Folckomer and Danny Quirk, who trusted the idea of Immaculate Dissection enough to help us make it a worldwide reality.

8. …for the universities that let me live out my anatomical teaching dreams every day.

9. …for Jill White Palmer, who showed me that waiting for true love is completely worth it.

10. …for StrongFirst and RKC, for connecting me every day with people magnetized to the versatile mobility, stability and strength tool that is the kettlebell.

11. …for airlines, taxis, and the NYC subway, for letting me shuttle the city and earth to each amazing job of my dreams.

12. …for Tesoro Mio, for helping me believe in love again – but in a away I’ve never known.

13. …for my big sisters, who made mistakes before me so I could learn without consequence.

14. …for my big sisters, for showing me how to succeed without consequence.

15. …my therapist, for showing me to never regret a single feeling or thought.

16. …for the Iron Maidens, for showing me strong women are beautiful women – and we can do anything we want.

17. …for Chris Rider, for showing me the impossible only exists in my mind.

18. …for Australian jet lag, for showing me things will happen where prep makes no difference and perseverance defeats all things.

19. …for an elevated H-1AC, for showing me that avoiding sugar and starch doesn’t undo stress’s effect on insulin sensitivity.

20. … for the people of the “people who’ve changed me” series, for absolutely changing my life for the better.

21. …for the readers of this blog, for inspiring me to live an inspired life.

I hope you all had a wonderful day of giving thanks.

As always, it’s your call.
