Saturday, I was in town for a change. So naturally, I spent my day at the house of movement we built: Catalyst SPORT.
I treated patients into the afternoon, which was followed by our first Kettlebell Skills Workshop.
People of all backgrounds came, from physical therapists to people just wanting to learn how to use the “cannonball with a handle” known as a kettlebell.
Some were very nervous, for they had never swung a kettlebell.
But all participants left with a basic skill set that would keep them safe as they learned the full body benefits of this versatile tool.
It’s understandable to fear what one doesn’t understand.
But these open-minded participants listened attentively to the effective and easily understood coaching cues from master trainers Joe Boffi, Jason Kapnick and Jackie Kook.
They left in puddles of sweat, understanding that this small tool could help them safely get mobile, stable, and strong in all the right places.
And they also left with a confident basic skill set to approach a kettlebell safely, anywhere they go.
If you fear the kettlebell, you simply don’t understand it yet.
If you don’t understand it, find a certified kettlebell instructor to teach you the basic safety and technique skills to add this tool to your fitness regimen.
