I live a high octane life by choice.
Managing time to make everything fit can be challenging – even when everything goes right.
But when you’re between two Mercury retrogrades in one month, you expect there might be universal interference disguised as obstacles.
Anybody can keep their cool when things are going well.
But what about when things are in a perfect storm?
I got to try out my new meditation techniques in the face of adversity yesterday, as I hit every possible road block to get to London Heathrow airport.
A boarding pass that wouldn’t load.
A seminar that ran slightly over.
A train closure.
An alternate train route in a foreign city.
Another train delay.
A bag check at security.
I felt the adversity from every direction.
As my heart began to race and my breathing began to change, I felt myself letting the obstacles push me off center.
But then I reached out to help myself.
I focused on my breathing and remembered I could only control my reactions – not the events.
I called my amazing friend and Londoner Maryam, who helped me get organized.
I reached out to employees for help on the best travel routes.
I kindly asked for help from airport security, who sped up my bag check.
I messaged my boyfriend, who reminded me to stay centered and picture myself making the plane, stating he would do the same.
And as I sprinted across the terminal to find my gate, I arrived mere minutes before its closure.
This is the picture i took after passing through the gate:
I was reminded of two facts:
1. You must always stay centered, no matter the circumstances in your atmosphere.
2. Asking for help from willing people keeps you centered and strong.
People will help you.
If you ask, they will rally to make sure you have what you need.
But if you don’t ask, you might remain lost.
I made that flight because I stayed centered, a large part of which was helped by other people.
Consider maintaining your center, no matter the environment.
As always, it’s your call.
