People Who’ve Changed Me: Part 57

Dooley Noted: 1/19/2016

The Person: Dr. Eric Dixon

Former profession: chiropractic rehabilitative specialist

How I met him:
I met Eric when we were both students at Logan College of Chiropractic. I was ahead of him in years, but he was far ahead of me in knowledge.

It was like meeting a male version of me, when we found ourselves in the same clubs with the same interests. I chose him as my intern, and he gave flawless care to a knee problem that I no longer have because of his advice.

How he changed me:

I wasn’t able to send him my questions in time, because Eric died in a car accident over this past weekend.

But I did get to help interview him in 2012, with Dr. Zack Conklin of the former company, “myfatfact.”

Hearing his answers to questions were like hearing my own. I had never come across a chiropractor with the same devotion to both acupuncture, chiropractic and kettlebells.

He knew that authentic human movement was critical to proper care, and he knew the chiropractic profession needed more focus on stability work to match our mobility corrections.

Whether it was MPI, ART, DNS, HKC, SFMA, FMS, or acupuncture, we chose very similar educational routes. Only Eric completely surpassed and inspired me with his focus on golf and baseball athletes.

His knowledge was absolutely unending, and he was still hungry for more.

The world has one less chiropractic rehabilitative specialist, but I know that Eric is not truly gone.
His energy and inspiration cannot be destroyed.

As I look at his picture, I will feel him driving me every day and cheering me on as I carry out his mission.

I will talk about his influence as I teach all around the planet, noting how much he accomplished in his short 31 years on this planet.

The world will know him.

I’m honored and privileged I got to meet him, be treated by him, and be influenced by his drive and passion for rehabilitation.

Honor and acknowledge the people who change you.

As always, it’s your call.
