Cross Country Road Trip: Days 3 and 4

Dooley Noted: 1/31/2016

On Day 3, Jonathan and I awoke in a small Kansas town to this gorgeous sunrise.

We hit the road for the next 15 hours, traveling through state after state.

There’s no better way to get to know someone than to take a road trip with them through states like Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana.

The scenery doesn’t change much. So, you have to entertain each other.

My beloved and I didn’t have much problem.

The music became our connector, helping us bond over everything from Pantera to the Everly Brothers to Justin Timberlake.

And at each gas break, we were bending and swinging metal.

We worked on our grip strength as we drove.

We talked about our past, present and future.

We talked about how we finally found the person we want to walk the world right alongside.

And we felt ourselves fall in love over and over as we laughed and shared.

When you have zero barriers, you bond quickly.

And when it’s right, you really do know right away.

So, we prepared to tell my family about our intentions, as we drove up to my Indiana hometown on Day 4.

As we laughed and shared, Jonathan showed some of his strongman bending and tearing skills.

And they were overjoyed to learn I had found my life partner – and that we would be married in May.

We are now finishing our fourth day on the road, hitting the homestretch to New York City.

We return to our city with a truck full of steel and a total excitement for the present and future.

Some of you folks have been winding up your best pitches of love, tossing it across the plate and hoping someone would catch it.

And if you are like me, you threw out your best heat over and over, just to have it batted hard right back into your chest.

Don’t let a broken heart break you.

Please don’t stop throwing your heat.

The right person will catch it. They won’t be afraid to accept your love.

As Jonathan says, “Choose love over fear.”

I hope you keep loving hard and keeping your heart open.

And when you find him or her, drive cross country together. You’ll learn a ton and have the time of your lives.

As always, it’s your call.
