I’ve had my share of uncertainties in this life.
And most of the time, these uncertainties helped me wedge myself into corners.
When I currently look at a 24 kilo kettlebell, I see a bell I used to not be able to one-arm swing.
It used to be a bell with which I could not get-up.
But I can easily do those things now.
I currently train for pressing with a 20 kilo.
As I press, and press, and press – I watch it fly up – and it used to seem impossible.
So, what’s the difference between when the 20 kilo press seemed impossible, or the 24 kilo get-up seemed challenging?
The weight never changed.
The only difference is me – and my certainty.
I look at a 20 kilo now and I know – with absolute certainty, I can press it cold, anytime, any place.
If there’s any uncertainty, you will likely not move that bell.
And that’s why I truly believe the 24 kilo press eludes me.
The math is there.
The volume on the 20 kilo press is high, confident, and powerful.
So, uncertainty about it is absent.
As I work towards an absence of uncertainty for the 24 kilo press, I understand the barriers between my mind and my goal.
If you have walls of uncertainty up, then recognize them and break then down one by one.
Maybe it takes meditation.
Maybe it takes more time visualizing yourself doing what currently eludes you.
If it’s the brain that is making you uncertain, then alter the brain.
Build the strength. Work the technique.
But don’t forget to build the certainty.
The reality you create is the one your brain perceives.
And the only thing making you certain is your brain’s perception.
As always, it’s your call.
