After watching the Arnold Classic 2016 deadlifting competition, I was in awe of the focused lifters.
They were doing everything within their abilities to break records.
Eddie Hall, the deadlift winner, said, “I don’t share records. That record is mine.”
That gave me ultimate inspiration.
He is willing to come back every year and defend his record. If he needs to surpass it, he will damn well do it.
The problem with peaking for many people is that they think they own a record or a skill.
The hard truth is you own nothing that you cannot defend in the next moment.
Records are made to be surpassed.
You hold a record? Great. Be prepared to defend it or to inspire others to surpass it.
You can change the way things are done in your skill set.
Inspire.
Someone is bound to outdo you.
To make a true impact and leave a legacy, you can give others the tools to outdo you.
Or, you can watch as your skill set dies with you, with a record let behind that is bound to be surpassed.
As always, it’s your call.
