People Who’ve Changed Me: Part 64

Dooley Noted: 3/11/2016

The Person: Tanya Carroll

Her profession: personal trainer, co-owner of Livestrong Primal Fitness outside Melbourne, Australia

How I met her:

Tanya and Andrew were our first hosts as NKT I made its return to Australia in March 2014.

Like many people, Tanya’s first impression of me was a classic one:

“I thought you were nuts when Andrew first showed me a Youtube clip of you teaching NKT!”

And like many people, she found out when she hosted the course that the powerful technique with an energetic instructor weren’t so crazy!

How she’s changed me:
I’ve had the pleasure of introducing Tanya to two different techniques that she was also hosting.

She inspired me to bring seminars to my facility so I could learn from them – as well as spread the education to people in my area.

As a brilliant Chek coach and practitioner, Tanya was willing to open her mind to different systems of thought so she could best help her clients.

She is helping us to bridge the gap between healthcare practitioners and fitness, with her gym’s focus on functional movement and movement education.

She is a leader in the fitness movement in Australia, and one should not visit Melbourne with paying her husband and her a visit at Livestrong Primal Fitness.

Her answers to a list of my questions:

Book that changed you:

Unbearable Lightness by Portia De Rossi

Best website:

YouTube

Biggest mentor:

Paul Chek and Donal Carr

Secret to success:

Give your heart.

Secret to happiness:

Do what you love (and if you don’t know what you love do everything until something resonates).

Secret to fitness:

Listen to your body.

Secret to wealth:

Trust your instincts.

Best advice you’ve been given:

‘Don’t worry about people who tease you because you cry at sad things. It just means that you have been given a bigger heart than some people and care more.’

My best friends Mum when I was about 8 years old and her three sons were teasing me for crying at an episode of Little House on the Prairie. I think it has helped me see that the strength of my emotions were given to me to be an asset in my life.
