Every morning, my husband walks me to the train station.
Never in my 37 years has anyone offered me this courtesy.
As he holds my hand and jokes with me, I understand the power of being considerate.
It’s an inconvenience for him. He’s not getting on that same train.
He has to walk all the way back home, alone, and take time out of his day to be so courteous.
His efforts have this incredible ripple effect.
I find myself being more considerate to everyone I pass in the morning.
The person who bumped me on the train? I beat them to an apology.
The person who needs a seat? I quickly offer mine.
The people I pass get beaming smiles and nods of hello and encouragement.
My husband’s consideration makes me more considerate as a reflex.
If you find people are being inconsiderate to you, see how much consideration you can give to everyone around you.
You may find like attracts like.
As always, it’s your call.
