I remember many disappointing outcomes from friendships and relationships.
I remember crying in a pillow, wondering how I could better myself so I wouldn’t get targeted for hurt.
I remember people telling me that one day, I would meet someone to walk this life with me.
I remember thinking that one day, all of my efforts to find love and commitment would be rewarded.
I imagined that one day, I’d meet a man who gave full focus to self-improvement, despite rejection after rejection of his efforts.
I pictured that one day, I’d meet a man who could see past my intense travel schedule and see the woman with whom he wanted to build a family.
As that one day didn’t come, I couldn’t let the idea of him fade away.
So I worked on myself, so I could recognize him when he crossed my path.
It took 37 long, arduous years, but I didn’t miss him when I found him.
I wound up at his doorstep.
As he opened the door, our “one day” finally came.
And we didn’t miss out on it.
We never gave up the idea that “one day” would come.
So if your “one day” hasn’t arrived, know this truth:
You must not curse your fate for that day not being today.
You must work on clearing your mind of its cobwebs.
You must do the things you’ve desired to do.
You must accomplish and inspire as you see fit.
Put all your efforts into that one day.
You must not let your past steer your present and future.
If you are distracted by all the past days, you may miss the “one day” for which you’ve been preparing.
As always, it’s your call.
