Every week, for the past few years, I get an email asking what seminars I recommend people to take.
I’m also asked which kettle bell instruction course to take, or which fitness program is the best to follow.
As a seminar instructor, I also see people taking many different seminars without much follow through and without full understanding of one system at a time.
This leaves a person with a ton of scrambled knowledge and no way to apply it.
So, my suggestion is unlikely to change regarding this topic.
Pick one thing.
Finish it.
Go all the way with it, if it resonated with you.
Stop trying to adopt 50 different things to learn all at once.
You’ll end up learning half of the system and being confused on how to apply it.
What you were looking for might be right under your nose.
If the program is written for you, just finish it.
Don’t change it.
Finish one thing.
If you took a seminar and it rocked you, apply it.
Really learn the intricate nature of the technique you’re studying.
Learn it all the way.
I did this with anatomy, and it changed the course of my entire career to be based around my anatomical knowledge.
This focus has paid off in every aspect of my career.
My whole life prior to anatomy, I had scattered focus.
So I found a central point upon which to focus, and I built my clinical practice around it.
I used this same central focus with kettlebells.
I achieved a strong knowledge base with those and applied the knowledge earned at my certifications.
I didn’t take 50 seminars at once.
I did one at a time – and I applied what I learned.
I found myself becoming streamlined in my practice and training, making my rehabilitation and programming more effective for my patients and myself.
If you want results – follow through.
Pick something – and get proficient at it.
You might get frustrated.
You might even get a bit bored.
But before you move onto the next hot thing, make sure you own what you already know.
As always, it’s your call.
