Focus as an Energy Bank

Dooley Noted: 7/16/2016

Yesterday, we had every road block in our way as we trekked to make a flight.

We endured heavy traffic and Google map lies about transit times.

We also got the taxi driver in NYC that stops at yellow lights.

Instead of getting upset, I worked out contingency for our travel.

I controlled what I could and focused on that.

I controlled my breathing and my thoughts.

I planned alternate flight paths.

I planned how to get us through the line more quickly at the airport.

I checked my bag to make sure I wouldn’t be held up at security.

In the past, I might have spent that 45-minute cab ride anxious or beating myself up for the travel choices I made.

Instead, I arrived to the airport energized – making the flight with plenty of time to spare.

Had I spun out, I’d have boarded the plane exhausted, disheveled, and beaten down by my own thoughts.

But I know I am in charge – and so are you.

You are the driver.

You can spin out of control, with no plan of how or where you’ll land and exhausted once you stop.

Or, you can take the wheel, focusing on the task at hand and bank the energy saved for down the next road.

As always, it’s your call.
