The Short Version: paradigm-shifting and the most productive fun I’ve had in years. Complete game changer.
The longer version:
CK-FMS stands for Certified Kettlebell Functional Movement Specialist. Most of the people there were FMS level I and II certified personal trainer that were also Russian Kettlebell Challenge (RKC) certified. We are talking the cream of the crop trainers.
I was one of the few clinicians there, and I was in awe of the people around me. These people already make a commanding income and have amazing businesses. They arrived on a quest to teach the world how to move better then move often.
It was my heaven on earth for four straight days.
Having the movement gods Gray Cook and Brett Jones help you pick apart movement flaws for four days? It was one of the most valuable experiences of my career. They back up what they state with peer reviewed literature, experience, and principles. I can’t ask much else from a system.
Like the SFMA, FMS provides a standard operating system based on principles of movement. Before the SFMA and FMS, I didn’t have that. With diagnosis and correctives, I was a fisher, not a sniper.
And we had a BLAST. Yes, there were kettlebells and movement screens a plenty. But there were creeps and crawls, correctives and breathing, business talks and methodology. And lots of laughter.
I feel lucky to be in the last co-hort of CK-FMS the way it was taught. One day later, I’m already putting into action what I’ve learned.
And I’m on “vacation!”
If you are not using FMS as part of your movement analysis, you might want to get on the boat before you’re left behind. And getting KB certified is a smart move, too (no pun intended).
